Dal Tadka
North Indian yellow dal with a fragrant ghee tempering.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Toor Dal (Arhar Dal)
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 4 cups Water
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 2 Dried Red Chilies
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 1 Tomato, chopped
- 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
Instructions
- Rinse and pressure cook Toor Dal with water, salt, and turmeric for 3-4 whistles.
- Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and dried red chilies.
- Add onions and sauté until golden. Add ginger-garlic paste and tomatoes. Cook until soft.
- Pour the tempering over the cooked dal, mix well, and simmer for 5 minutes. Garnish with coriander.
