Chana Dal Vada

South Indian-style spiced lentil fritters that are crunchy and savory.

Serves: 12 Vadas

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana Dal, soaked
  • 2 Dried Red Chilies
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • A few Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp Fennel Seeds
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Soak chana dal for 2 hours. Drain completely and grind coarsely with red chilies and fennel seeds (do not add water).
  2. Mix in the chopped onion and curry leaves. Add salt.
  3. Shape small, flat discs from the mixture.
  4. Deep fry in hot oil until they are deep golden brown and crispy.
